世界12強棒球賽A組預賽昨在台中洲際棒球場上演激烈的「古荷大戰」，荷蘭隊推出大聯盟級投手傑金斯先發，他主投6局失5分無關勝敗，古巴軍團靠著阿拉爾亢8局上擊出致勝安打，以6比5氣走荷蘭，拿下12強賽首勝。
傑金斯2013年曾跟旅美左投陳偉殷是金鶯隊時期隊友，他表示：「陳偉殷是很好的人，雖然話不多，但總是能完成工作，他應該獲得更好的肯定，我覺得他應該是大聯盟現今最好左投之一，他被低估了。」
傑金斯昨賽後說：「我盡力了，除了6局上的失投，但這就是比賽中的一部分，如果不是這樣，現在在休息室慶祝的應該是我們，只好明天再繼續加油。」
古巴隊揮別首場輸給加拿大的低潮，總教練梅沙表示：「都是大家夠努力，才能拿下這場勝利，這屆比賽各隊都很有實力，像波多黎各、中華隊都是很強的隊伍，每隊都有奪冠機會。」
昨晚在斗六球場進行的加拿大對波多黎各之役，楓葉國3位投手展現精湛投球水準，全場壓制波隊打擊火力，加拿大以2比0完封波多黎各，在A組率先取得2勝戰績領先群雄。
